When Barry Wild went up to St John’s College Oxford in 1969 he was tutored by the 24 year-old George Fleet. After becoming Head of Chemistry and then Head of Science at Cheltenham, Barry taught Chris who then went on to read Chemistry at St John’s in 2009. By then George had become the Professor of Organic Chemistry at Oxford and has had Chris as one of his star pupils.

After his first year Chris was awarded a Scholarship at St John’s and is now in his third year reading Chemistry at Oxford.

The three met recently and were able to renew their old chemistry!
