  • Past Parent Tim Brain, father to Richard Brain (S '07) has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
  • James Stout (H '02) On 3rd February 2008, James won the Rackets British Open title beating an Old Harrovian (who had knocked out the World Champion in the semi-final) 4-1.  In January 2008 James was crowned US Open Champion at both Singles and Doubles - two seriously impressive feats. 
  • Jim Elliott (L '96) has recently arrived in Antarctica where he will be working for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) for the next 16 months at their main base at Rothera. He has been helping the ITN team and Mark Austen on their Big Melt special reports on the ITN News. He is the Boating Officer at the main BAS base on the North West Peninsular of the Antarctic and responsible for all the boat operations around the base where there are over 100 scientists and staff. He has set up his own website at www.saltwater-support.co.uk through which he can be contacted and on which he is writing a diary blog with photos.
  • Bath winger Nick Abendanon (L '04) is currently with England in Dubai ahead of Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens which kicked off on 1st December 2006. The 20 year old, who was born in South Africa, arrived in Dubai on Monday morning and is enjoying his first experience as an England Sevens player: he has recently made his debut for England Saxons playing against Italy.
  • Polo player, George Meyrick (H '05), was named most promising young player this year after his outstanding season with the Dubai high-goal team.    George (20) has been selected for next April's World Championship qualifier squad.  Tom Morley, squad captain, says: "George has the brain, horsemanship and ball skills to go all the way. He's competitive and tough - but a nice humble guy.  You can lend him your top horses and they'll come back even better."
