The Old Cheltonian Cricket Club 2011 Season

The Cricketer Cup

The club had its most successful run in the ‘Cricketer Cup’ for a few years after defeating Haileybury Hermits and Uppingham Rovers before losing to Old Malvernians, the eventual competition winners, in the 3rd round.

IZingari (Australia) – an enjoyable fixture played at College.  Tom Richardson managed and captained the side.  Despite some friendly dispute over whether the result was a win for the tourist or a tie, international links have been made for the future.

Gloucestershire Gipsies

This 2 day game and new addition to the fixture card was very successful.  Scores:  Old Cheltonians 1st innings 290 for 9 dec.  George Sandbach 114, Kyle Stovold 68, Alex Ross 35 and Henry Keeling 30.  2nd innings 221 all out.  Kyle Stovold 47, Alex Ross 41 and George Sandbach 38.  Gloucestershire Gipsies 262 for 6 dec.  Ned Langlands Pearse 3 for 48, Hugo Lear 2 for 28.  2nd innings 206 all out.  James Shackleton 5 for 57.  Result:  Old Cheltonians won by 43 runs.

Hurlingham CC (London)

George Brooksbank managed this side but played for the opposition! It is particularly good to have a regular fixture in London.  Scores:  Old Cheltonians 210 all out.  Paddy Curtis 40, Ali Sherwood 30.  Hurlingham Club 202 all out.  Will Sandbach 7 for 50 and George Brooksbank 46.  Result:  Old Cheltonians won by 8 runs.
